Mahoora Camping in Uda Walawe National Park is a unique camping experience located in the thicket on the eastern boundary of the park. Uda Walawe is renowned for the elephants that roam through its borders and by camping within the park you get a better chance of seeing them, along with the plethora of other flora and fauna, also found in the area.
A very experienced and enthusiastic team runs Mahoora Camping, which includes two jeep safaris through the park. There are two game drives per day: the morning safari is usually between 6.00 am and 10.00 am and the afternoon safari is between 3.00 pm and 6.00 pm (please note unlimited safaris can be arranged on request for photography purposes, at an additional charge). It’s important to note that Mahoora Camping is very simple and basic and generally does not compare to the luxuries often found in Africa. Despite this we feel Mahoora offers an experience unparalleled in the area and is something truly unique.
