Uda Walawe National Park spans an incredible 30 hectors and at its centre is the Uda Walawe Reservoir. Unlike Yala National Park, Uda Walawe is fairly flat with little forested area. Instead it is full of grassland and low shrub, the perfect climate for wildlife sightings in a 4×4. Our morning jeep safari takes you into the park in a 4×4 with an experienced guide and tracker. You will explore this vast park for 3-4 hours, and if you’re lucky you will see herds of elephant, sambar deer, and even crocodile. We feel Uda Walawe best rivals the savannahs of east Africa due to its flat plains, but don’t expect the density of wildlife here. It is however a fun and exhilarating experience in one of Sri Lanka’s most interesting landscapes.
